AUO Display Plus Q1 2026 LCD Panel Product Roadmap

Preface

In February 2026, AUO released a full Q1 2026 product strategy document. This roadmap targeting industrial and commercial LCD display markets covers a complete LCD panel portfolio ranging from 2.7 inches to 32 inches, four core LCD technologies, full integrated touch solutions, cutting-edge innovative display technologies, and standardized end-of-life product transition procedures. It serves sectors including smart retail, industrial control, medical imaging, transportation, office & security, and entertainment. Supported by long-term supply availability, one-stop delivery and industrial-grade high-reliability product systems, AUO addresses key pain points of downstream OEMs such as supply chain stability, customized development and long-term product iteration.

1. Full-Scenario Coverage: Six Vertical Sectors

Leveraging years of display R&D and mass production experience, AUO segments its product applications into six vertical industries, developing value-added panel solutions tailored to terminals in each field:

♦Smart Retail: Designed for POS/mPOS terminals, lottery machines, ATM/VTM, self-service kiosks and digital shelf labels. Featuring ultra-narrow bezels, long LED backlight lifespan, integrated touch functions and high reliability.

♦Industry: For HMI, industrial IPC, construction and agricultural machinery. Core advantages include wide operating temperature range, high vibration resistance, superior durability and extended backlight service life.

♦Healthcare: Specialized monitors for surgical visualization, ultrasound and X-ray diagnostic imaging with low color shift, high contrast and precise color reproduction. Glass-based and flexible digital X-ray sensor solutions are also available.

♦Entertainment: LCD Display modules for casino gaming and pachinko machines.

♦Office & Security: LCD Displays for multi-function printers, e-readers and fingerprint recognition components.

♦Transportation: Cabin IFE, marine, subway, train and gateway equipment panels engineered to withstand extreme temperature fluctuations for vehicle and outdoor deployment.

2. Four Core LCD Technologies & Innovative Technologies

2.1 Mature LCD Technology Portfolio

AUO offers four LCD cell technologies with defined contrast ratio and viewing angle specifications to fit diverse cost and image quality requirements:
Panel Tech Contrast Ratio Viewing Angle (Up/Down/Left/Right) Core Advantages
TN 800:1 80/80/70/70 Low cost; ideal for entry-level industrial and retail applications
MVA 2000:1 89/89/89/89 High contrast; basic wide viewing angle performance
PSA (AMVA3) 3000:1 89/89/89/89 Premium VA technology; superior dark scene reproduction with ultra-high contrast
AHVA (AFFS-like) 1000:1 89/89/89/89 Minimal color shift (Δu’v’<0.03 at 60° off-axis); uniform color output for medical and high-end industrial use

2.2 Eight Cutting-Edge Display Innovations

♦ High Resolution Options: Industrial-grade resolutions including XGA (1024×768), FHD (1920×1080), UHD 4K (3840×2160), QXGA and WQXGA.

♦ Wide Color Gamut (WCG): Delivers vivid, saturated color; split into standard and premium professional gamut grades for medical imaging and retail signage.

♦ Enhanced Contrast Ratio: Improves differentiation of fine details across bright and dark scenes, with standard and boosted contrast variants available.

♦ Super Narrow Bezel (SNB) & Borderless Design:

• SNB: Distance from active area to outer casing (OD) ≤ 5 mm

• Borderless: Edge-to-edge seamless appearance for video walls and self-service terminals

♦ Custom Tartan Aspect Ratio Panels: Custom native photomasks deliver non-standard aspect ratios with stable performance for kiosks and transport devices.

♦ Curved Displays: Expands viewing angle for immersive visual experience in entertainment and premium retail hardware.

♦ Medical Imaging Sensor Technology:

• Glass digital X-ray sensors: High-precision optical imaging with customized pixel layouts

• Flexible X-ray sensors: Ultra-thin, lightweight and shatter-resistant for portable medical devices

♦ High-PPI Fingerprint Sensors: Supports single/multi-touch operation with up to 1000 PPI, integrated into office and security hardware.

3. One-Stop Full-Range Touch Solutions Covering 5″–32″ Sizes

Integrated touch display modules are a core highlight of Q1 2026’s product lineup. AUO streamlines the full supply chain from LCD cells, touch sensors, cover glass to lamination, delivering complete assemblies to simplify downstream manufacturing workflows.

♦ Full Touch Architecture Support: Compatible with G/G, OGS, oTP, iTP, In-cell, On-cell and Out-cell touch structures across 5–32 inches; supports both air bonding and direct optical bonding processes.

♦ Customization & Performance Enhancement:

Hardware customization: IC selection, cover glass machining (max. thickness 3 mm), cutting, grinding, drilling, silk-screen logos and surface treatments (AR anti-reflection, AG anti-glare, AF anti-smudge).

◊ Performance upgrades:

• EMC compliance: IEC61000-4-6 immunity standard (150 kHz–80 MHz)

• Palm rejection: Suppresses accidental input from palms up to 10×10 cm²

• Water & corrosion resistance: Passes rain spray and 5% salt spray testing

• Touch input compatibility: Supports passive 6 mm styluses and operation through 3 mm thick gloves

♦ Mass Production Capacity: Has shipped tens of millions of touch-laminated assemblies, offering fully integrated one-stop solutions combining LCD, touch sensor, cover glass and lamination to eliminate separate component procurement and secondary processing for customers.

4. Industrial-Grade Reliability & Long-Term Supply Guarantees

For long-lifecycle equipment sectors such as industrial control, medical and transportation, AUO establishes a comprehensive reliability and supply security framework:

♦ Industrial-Grade Durability Standards: LED backlight lifespan reaches 50,000+ hours with a 300-hour accelerated reliability test cycle. High-brightness variants ensure sunlight readability. Custom wide-temperature liquid crystal eliminates black spot defects common in consumer panels under extreme operating temperatures.

♦ Long-Term Supply Commitment: A minimum of 3 years continuous supply is guaranteed for all general display panels from mass production launch.

♦ Standardized EOL Transition Process

To prevent production line interruptions caused by obsolete model phase-out, AUO implements a standardized four-stage migration workflow:

• Issue EOL announcement more than 1 year in advance

• Release official EOL notice

• Open Last Time Buy (LTB) order window

• Complete final mass production and shipment

During the EOL cycle, compatible replacement models with identical hardware & electrical interfaces are launched to enable seamless migration without retooling or driver software modification, cutting customer iteration costs significantly.
